Rev. Thomas Scales

Thomas Scales was born in Yorkshire, the son of Thomas Scales an innkeeper and farmer and his wife Frances.
He studied for the congregational ministry at Hoxton College in London and married the principal's daughter Christiana Simpson in 1810 at St Leonards, Shoreditch in the presence of Robert Simpson [her father] and Abraham Simpson who may have been related.
His son Alfred was born in 1813 and a daughter Sarah and four more sons Robert Simpson, Henry Christian, Frederick and William were born by 1824, the last two in Leeds.
Thomas was serving at Wolverhampton at the time and moved to Queen Street Independent Chapel in Leeds in 1819.
His wife died in 1843 and he may have remarried. He died in 1860.
