Christiana Simpson

Christiana Simpson was a daughter of Sarah Lee and Robert Simpson, who became the Principal of the Hoxton Academy in London. She was born in Yorkshire in 1786 and married Thomas Scales a former student of the Academy in 1810. She endured several unsuccessful pregnancies before her son Alfred was born in 1813. It is interesting that a similar pattern occurred for her granddaughter Emily, a daughter of Alfred.
Christiana had six living children that we know of. She died of dropsy in April 1843 at 8 York Place [off Queen street] in Leeds aged fifty six years. Her son William, the informant, was present at her death.
