Samuel Bouts

Samuel Bouts was born in 1823 and christened at St Giles Cripplegate in London. His father Thomas was a wine and spirit merchant at Barbican. He had two older brothers and three sisters.
Samuel married Cecilia Ann Brede in 1849 at St Botolph Without Aldersgate in London. Samuel was living at St John's street. His father was dead and his older brother John was a witness, along with Cecilia's father, a licensed victualler of Carthinian street.

Samuel and Cecilia had six children, the first two born in Clerkenwell, then the rest at Islington. He was a collector in 1858 and probably a traveller before he died in 1863 aged 42, as his children later went to the Traveller's School at Pinner which was a boarding school providing a grammar school education to orphans of travellers.
Samuel, Cecilia and eldest son John were buried at Abney Park cemetery in London, a non-conformist burial ground. All three died between February and June 1863, leaving three sisters and their baby brother probably in the care of their maternal grandmother, who died in 1880 and is buried with Cecilia.
