Jean Mitchell

Jean Mitchell was born in April 1786 at Beith in Ayrshire. She was the youngest of perhaps seven children. Her father Andrew Mitchell was an anti-burgher minister in Beith. She married Thomas Millar in Glasgow in 1809. She had five daughters and two sons. She was called Jane on her daughter's death certificate in 1881.
